The anti-talks faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB-S) has been recruiting young boys and girls in Assam and sending them to Myanmar for arms training in their camps in Taga area.Disclosing that the outfit has enrolled nearly 40 young Bodo boys and girls, many from Dhemaji and Lakhimpur districts, outside the Bodoland Territorial Council, authoritative security sources told this newspaper that some of their
attempts have already been foiled by the security forces, but many more are looking for a chance to cross over to Myanmar.
These new recruits are taken to Dimapur in Nagaland in small batches of four to five cadres, sources said, adding that the outfit was focusing on taking more and more women cadres to the Myanmar camp.Pointing out that the NDFB (Songbijit-faction) was laying stress on recruiting women cadres to facilitate a homely
atmosphere for its militia of nearly 300 armed cadres in Myanmar, security sources, however, said that intelligence inputs emanating from their camps indicate that women cadres are given arms training, but largely they have been engaged in domestic responsibility of the camps.
Hinting that NDFB chief I.K. Songbijit was stationed in Tamu area of northwest Myanmar adjoining Manipur,
security sources said that newly-recruited cadres were taken to the camps in Taga.Security sources said that most of the operational activities, including the recruitment of new cadres, is looked after by the deputy commander-in-chief Bidai and general secretary of the outfit N. Batha, who are suspected to have been operating from BTC area.
Regretting that synergy at the cadre-level among three factions of the NDFB has been the major area of concern, security sources said that there have been instances of cadres of anti-talk and pro-talk factions helping each others.Security sources said that the police has also been alerted about the possible use of women cadres as a honey-trap to
kidnap their targets. More than 50 heavily-armed NDFB cadres are taking shelter in bordering areas of Bhutan with
some arrangement with local villagers, security sources added. They crossed over to Bhutan soon after counter-
insurgency operation was launched in BTC areas, security sources said.
