Foreign medical specialists visit monks in Mandalay Hospital

Foreign medical specialists visited monks on Saturday to find out the conditions of their injuries at the Mandalay General Hospital.
The monks have been admitted to the hospital after sustaining injuries in the crackdown in the Latpadaungtaung protest.
A dermatologist from Thailand visited the hospital and met with the medical superintendent to discuss about medical treatments for the injured monks. He also donated some essential medicine and money for the monks.
"They wanted to take responsibility for the medical treatments of the monks," said a monk from the medical healthcare committee.
A delegation from the Investigation Commission for the Latpadaungtaung Protest including Dr Tin Myo Win and a surgeon from Australia also visited the monks at night to inquire about the conditions of their injuries and their medical treatments.
Dr Tin Myo Win said the delegation was sent to fulfill the medical requirements of the monks.
On December 2, a total of 105 injured monks and people were transported from Latpadaungtaung area and admitted to Mandalay Hospital. Currently, due to insufficient beds, 37 monks were transferred to Kandawnadi Hospital.
Among the rest in Mandalay hospital, there are eight seriously injured monks.
Another delegation from the Investigation Commission including the commission's secretary Kyaw Tint Swe, Lun Thi, and Maung Maung Aye also visited the monks at the Mandalay Hospital and Kandawnadi Hospital on December 7.
