Affection-based peace and stability must be established in the amidst of politic, economic and social changes as affection is the essence of Myanma traditional cultural Thingyan festival, President Thein Sein said in his radio message on April 14 (Akya day).
The President's radio message was aimed at the people on New Year of Myanmar.
Thingyan means to clease the dirt of the old year on the new year occasion, showing signs that we start our work with fresh mind and body in a new year. It is a tradition of our society, the President says.
The conflicts occurred in the previous year resulting from social misunderstandings are to be cleansed with Thingyan water. Myanmar is wanted to be a country restoring peace and stability in such an auspicious occasion, the President added.
As we build our society to ensure greater transperency, national consolidarity must be based by overcoming crisis and challenges likely to be faced in the future. Only then, our society will be bettered, the President continued.
Our country encountered unanticipated success in our democracy transition process within two years. On the other hand, we saw regretful events. We will have to be prepared for further challenges likely to be seen in the future, maintaining our success in the democracy path after taking lessons from the past events, the President disclosed.
The President urged the people to be on alert on possible violence instigated from internal and external destructive elements like that happened in the old year, then wishing the people spend the water festival with peace of mind.
