Ethnic Rakhine traditional Natha [ scented wood }grinding ceremony was held at AyeMyaShwePyi Monastery in Zabuthri Township, Nay Pyi Taw, on yesterday.
"We make our traditional Natha grinding ceremony here for first time with the aims to preserve and maintain our customs and traditions where we [Rakhine people] are," Than Nyunt, Rakhine National Races Association in Nay Pyi Taw said.
At Thingyan, all Rakhine families poured water to the Buddha images and Pagodas for first and they throw water to each others.
"On Saturday, We offer Natha water to the Pagoda in Zabuthri Township," he added.
Similarly, Ethnic Rakhine traditional Natha grinding and prize presenting ceremonies were held at the Prayer hall of Rakhine Traditional Association situated in eastern gate of Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon, yesterday.
In grinding ceremony, all Rakhine damsels from respective township in Rakhine State participated at the event and three prizes were awarded.
This morning, the 10 th Natha grinding ceremony took place at ThuWunna Stadium and Water throwing ceremony will be held in the evening there.
