The Ministry of Information announced Monday that Global Direct Link Co Ltd, which is believed to be a subsidiary of Japan's Kyodo News Agency, is the successful bidder for joint venture deal with The New Light of Myanmar, the government-run English newspaper.
The statement on the ministry's official web site does not disclose any details about the company but rather mention—though lately—the criteria of the tender evaluation.
The ministry said it had considered the financial background, reputation, experiences, investment and plans of the company.
Contenders in the tenders are not unknown but Shwe Than Lwin and Myanmar Consolidated Media, local media companies, are believed to be among the bidders.
The tender scrutiny started since 14 June but the winner was announced 10 days later.
