Mobile oversea calls to be charged in Kyat(K)

Mobile oversea calls to be charged in Kyat(K)

Oversea outbound call rates of GSM and WCDMA mobile phones will be charged using Myanmar Kyats from July 1, according to the announcement of Elite Tech Company.
Previously the Myanmar Posts and Telecommunication (MPT) charged oversea calls through the Foreign Exchange Certificate (FEC). The government officially ended FEC circulation in June.
Previously MPT charged oversea calls at 90 cent of FEC per minute and now they are charging 900 Kyats a minute.
"If the prepaid users still have FEC in their phone bill, we will charge them with FEC for overseas call. MPT still allows FEC prepaid cards in the market but we are stopping distribution. There will be no FEC prepaid cards in the future," said Sai Khin Maung Aye, Executive Director of Elite Tech.
Oversea outbound call rates of CDMA 800 MHz, CDMA 450 MHz and auto telephones are not changed yet but the rate changes will announce soon.
