Myanmar is planning to film the "world first airplane hijacking" in June 25, 1954, film makers and producers told the press on 28 June.
The hijacking of a passenger plane carrying 14 passengers aboard was part of Karen national liberation efforts, reported the private-owned Golden Fresh Land Journal which cited the leader of the hijacking plot Kyaw Aye, better known as "Airplane Saw Kyaw Aye" for his part in the plot.
The film which will be distributed abroad will be directed by Am Htaw Ni, one of leading movie makers in Myanmar.
Necessary equipment and cameras will be acquired from neighboring Thailand's movie industry. New actresses will be recruited for the film in July.
The director who has a two-hour screenplay in hands said he would seek official, although inessential, approval for his film.
