The Japan International Cooperation Agency, one of the most active
aids agencies in Myanmar, Friday opened a capacity building centre in
Myanmar's commercial city, Japanese news agency Kyodo reported.
The Myanmar-Japan Center for Human Resources Development in Yangon
will help develop the skills of the country's human resources in
industrial and commercial sectors.
It will offer training and organize workshops and seminars targeted
at the country's workforce.
The center is the initiative of JICA, the Ministry of Commerce, and
the Republic of Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce
and Industry, the governing body of commerce and industry in Myanmar.
"We are confident that this center will play a valuable role in
strengthening cooperation between the government, businesses and
academia institutions between Myanmar and Japan," JICA chief Akihiro
Tanaka said at the opening ceremony, according to Kyodo.
He said the businesses "can't succeed" without capable workforce.
As Myanmar has opened up, Japanese corporations are the first
investors rushing into the Southeast Asian country.
JICA, a Japanese government agency, is in cooperation with Myanmar
authorities in re-shaping the country's economy and a partner and
technical assistance provider in various projects in Myanmar.
