Drafting a brand new constitution could pose threat to the country and
citizens, the ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party issued
press release.
The ruling party issued the nine-point announcement on its stance on
the constitutional reforms being pushed by the opposition forces.
The parliamentary committee on constitutional reform will come up with
the constitutional provisions which need repairing.
The biggest opposition party National League for Democracy is pushing
for constitutional reform as it blocks the party leader Daw Aung San
Suu Kyi's road to presidency.
But the party recently announced that the party would conduct a public
opinion poll to decide upon the issue.
The constitutional reform has kept the country's political environment
in frenzy after the combined house formed the constitutional reform
committee.
