Myanmar and Thailand leaders separate meeting in 22th Asean Summit
President Thein Sein met with Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra again at the building of the Prime Minister's Office in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei yesterday afternoon.
The separate meeting of the two leaders took almost half an hour, highlighting matters related to Dawei deep seaport project.
During the separate meeting, both of the leaders need to continue negotiation for the speedy implementation of the Dawei deep seaport project jointly run by the two nations, Foreign Minister Wunna Maung Lwin told Eleven Media.
"The meeting focused on financial matters for the last phase of the project that were already discussed. Japan has been invited to make investment in the project. The early investors are Myanmar and Thailand," Permanent Secretary Mr Sihasak Phuangketkeow of Thai Foreign Ministry told Eleven Media.
Mr Sihasak Phuangketkeow added that any country would be invited for the investment in the project apart from Japan. Thailand welcomed Japan's possible participation in the investment for the project.
In addition to the Dawei deep seaport, both of the leaders also discussed about political progress and ethnic conflicts.
We welcome Myanmar's political progress and all EU sanctions on Myanmar that have been recently lifted, the permanent secretary said.
