Local Myanmar companies will provide employment for migrant workers who have just returned from Malaysia after violent attacks, according local sources.

Among the local companies are Shwe Taung Construction Company, Thuka Susan Overseas Employment Agency, Asia World, Popular Plastics Factory, Tet Lann Construction, H.T.C.T Construction, Aung Pann Myain, GW Company, and Asia Express.

"There are 13 local companies including factories who have vacancies for them. They will be employed immediately if qualified," said an official from Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security.

The local companies interviewed the returnees for possible employment on August 15 and 16 at a government labour training centre in Yankin Township, Yangon.

They will be employed as mechanics, electrical technicians, accountants, computer operators, drivers, general workers, security personnel, salesmen, maids, clerks and cleaners for the local factories and companies.

According to official data released by the ministry, 905 out of the 950 returnees from Malaysia were employed locally after applying for jobs since June 19.

Hundreds of Myanmar's migrant workers had returned from Malaysia recently due to safety concerns after attacks there killed some workers and seriously injured others.
