With heavy rains reached record level in two states









Myanmar's two states such as Shan and Kayin have witnessed record-breaking rainfalls during this monsoon season, according to official data from Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.


Heavy rains hit most of the country except the central part, causing several floods across the country during the period. In many areas, several houses and acres of paddy fields in thousands went submerged due to the floods. 


Mong Hsat, a town in southeastern Shan State has collected 5.04 inches of rainfall on July 29, a new record that broke the old record of 5 inches during the operating period of local weather center established some 47 years ago. 


A Kayin town named Kawkareik has also recorded a new one the same day with 10.94 inches the broke the previous record of 10.71 inches that was recorded just a day before it. 


Thousands of people were sheltering in relief camps in Kayin's several townships after flash floods swept the region leaving three dead and one missing, according to state media on Friday.


Around 33,409 people have been moved to 79 camps in Kayin State after monsoon floods that caused local people fleeing their homes, according to local sources.
