Aung San Suu Kyi on democratic transformation

The head of Myanmar's National League for Democracy came to Poland's capital at the invivtation of fellow Nobel laureate Lech Walesa to discuss the challenges and achievements of the democratic transition in this country after 1989 and to share her experiences linked with the ongoing transformation in her country.


Aung San Suu Kyi's visit to Poland has included meetings with top officials, among them Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Bronislaw Komorowski, alongside representatives of non-governmental organisations and students.


The Nobel Peace Prizewinner also held talks with Solidarity icon Lech Walesa and gave a lecture at the University of Warsaw, where she offered her take on the democratic transformation in Myanmar.


She sat down with Polish Radio's Krzysztof Renik to talk about the support for the democratic transition in her country from the international community, including Poland.


From Warsaw Aung San Suu Kyi will continue her foreign trip to Budapest and Prague.
