Myanmar ancient city Bagan has received record high entry fee income
collected from tourists entering into the ancient temples and stupas,
reported 7Day which cited an official of the Archaeological Research
Department.
Deputy Director of Archaeological Research Department Myo Oo said the
archaeological region has collected record high zone entry fee in
2013.
The entry fee of over 1,800,000 have been collected from more than
180,000 tourists this fiscal year, a significant increase from more
than 1,000,000 in 2011-2012 fiscal year.
"It is not true that (recent) bombings blocked tourists from entering
(the country). We see more tourists this year.
Even more tourists are expected in November," Myo Oo said in quote by 7Day.
An average of 600 tourists are visiting the archaeological region each
day in October, he added.
The Bagan zone entry fees are collected through six toll gates to the
area, according to the report.
