SEA Games: Malaysia Dislodge Thailand From Second Place On Day Five

NAYPYITAW, Dec 8 (Bernama) -- Malaysia dislodged Thailand from second place on the fifth day of the 27th SEA Games after collecting an additional gold and four silver Sunday, all of which were contributed by the wushu camp.


Malaysia now have two gold, four silver and eight bronze medals overall.


Hosts Myanmar still dominate the medal standing with eight gold, two silver and three bronze.


Thailand dropped to third place after their total haul was two gold, two silver and a bronxe.


Malaysia will be hunting for their 1,000th SEA Games gold medal tomorrow, also in the wushu competition, after Tai Cheau Xuen picked up the 999th in the women's Nandao today.


Our boys will also be in action in basketball and water polo tomorrow, against the hosts in the former and the Philippines in the latter.


Besides that, the men's futsal team will be starting their campaign tomorrow, also against the hosts.


The boxing competition also gets underway tomorrow as well as the preliminary rounds of silat.
