Pact Global Microfinance Fund will disburse USD 200 million loans to
farmers and small-scaled entrepreneurs in rural areas, reported The
Messenger.
PGMF signed a deal with International Financial Corporation, Proximity
Designs and World vision International Myanmar for the disbursement of
loan at the World Bank Office in Yangon last week.
The microfinancing group will provide loans to landless farmers and
rural people, according chief operation officer of PGMF Fahmid Karim
Bhuiya.
The group will assign an officer in each township and conduct surveys
from villagers taking loans, according to the report.
The group has already granted loans to farmers in 51 townships in
Delta area, Yangon, Mandalay, Magway and Sagaing Region and Shan
State.
The interest rate of the group on loans disbursed to farmers in the
country is 2.5 percent.
