THILAWA SEZ PROJECT NEEDS USD 180 MLN TO COMPLETE FIRST PHASE

Thilawa Special Economic Zone project near the commercial city Yangon needs USD 180 million to complete the first phase, according to Irrawaddy report.

Dr Set Aung, chairman of Thilawa SEZ implementation committee, said, "The least estimated funding required for the first phase 400 hectres is USD 180 million."

The vice governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar made the comment in a press conference on the Special Economic Zone at UMFCCI Office in Yangon.

The project is being implemented by a Myanmar-Japan joint venture Myanmar-Japan Thilawa Development Limited.

Infrastructural development projects related to Thilawa Special Economic Zone are being implemented with the loans from Japanese government.

The company is planning to sell its shares to the public soon.
