MYANMAR TYCOON DONATES HUGE RUBY

Teza, one of the most well-known Myanmar tycoons, surrendered a 1907-carat ruby out of his possessions to the state Saturday, according to media reports.

He made the surprise but trending donation in the time the richest businessmen notorious as "Cronies" in Myanmar are jostling to gain their reputation as wellwishers at the opening of Myanmar Gems Exhibition in Nay Pyi Taw Mani Yadana Jade Hall.

The opening was attended by top government officials including vice-president Dr Sai Mauk Kham and ministers.

Teza and Aung Ko Win, another tycoon who won the title of the top taxpayer last year, formally launched the exhibition which attracts relatively less interests from media and merchants than the previous shows.
