The appointment of economic attachés in Myanmar embassies abroad has helped promote trade with the respective countries, especially China and South Korea, both of whom have expressed interest in buying marine products, said Han Tun, vice-president of Myanmar Fisheries Federation.
At present, South Korea Embassy offered to purchase prawns and crabs.
"Yesterday, via the economic attaché from Seoul, South Korea, an offer was made for importing prawns, crabs and fish. Likewise, Hong Kong consulate office in China offered to buy some marine products last month. We have told about our products to the countries where our economic attachés reside," Han Tun said.
Economic attachés have been appointed in the countries like Thailand, China, Brazil, India, South Korea, Singapore, Japan and U.S.A's consulate last May and June in order to facilitate trading with foreign countries concerning Myanmar products.
A hundred tons of anchovy have been ordered to import to China through the economic attaché in China consulate office last month, added Han Tun.
